Spring is finally here. We’re almost sure your to-do list already feels overly long, but we have a few things that can save you some headaches and keep you comfy in the months to come. The weather is going to start heating up in Racine and the last thing you want is to uncover is that you’re facing an AC repair. Going through this short checklist now may save you from sweating this summer.
- Look at Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost every one of our lists of things to check because it's so important and so often overlooked. If your air filter is dirty, your system will have to work harder to keep you cozy. This costs you more money and causes more work on the system which reduces the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are a separate piece of the puzzle that is often overlooked as well. While you're spring cleaning, remove the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers taken off, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and switch them after they've dried.
- Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units clear of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can impact your system and cause it to decrease its efficiency.
- Schedule Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we enter the picture to help you tackle that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up prolongs the life of your system and keeps it operating at top efficiency. Spring is the best time to arrange your tune-up so any concerns or AC repair that needs to be made can be handled before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a little investment into the lifecycle of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.
We can't help you with the entirety of your spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to be sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to arrange your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 262-358-9468.
